SHORT-TERM CAREER GOALS

Participate in a mental health first aid course before the end of the program
Attend a webinar on paediatric OT for physical disabilities
Job shadow a paediatric OT since there have been limited placement opportunities
Reach out to Kingston’s local MS Clinic to gather more information about their clinic and whether they plan to hire/currently hire any occupational therapists.
Begin the job search process around Kingston, ON, and send my resume to a few areas of interest and local connections for a job beginning in September 2022.

In 5 years I hope to be employed full-time by Providence Care Hospital or a similar rehabilitation setting, working with individuals who have had a stroke and/or have begun the rehabilitation process of using prostheses following an amputation.
I would also consider a children’s rehabilitation setting after some more exposure directly tied to an OT, as well as working with children in a school setting.
I hope to be more confident and comfortable in my area of practice, and have a compilation of assessments and interventions based on the most up to date and evidence based practice recommendations.
